We used Trans Maldivian Airways to get to our last resort for our final journey in paradise. With the world’s largest seaplane fleet, TMA won’t disappoint you.

Prices and Luggage
Flight prices vary depending on which Island/Resort you are going to, but on average, it would be a USD540 return flight per person.
The standard permissible weight for luggage is 25 kg, including 20 kg of checked-in luggage and 5 kg of hand luggage per person. The consequence for any bag should not exceed 32 kg. The per kg charge for baggage above the permissible limit is USD 5.00/- plus applicable taxes.
Flight Experience
After you check in, the TMA team will drive you in an air-conditioned minibus from the International Terminal to their terminal inside the airport, and you will have time to relax in the lounge before your flight.
One of the things we love the most about Trans Maldivian Airways is that when you fly with them, you are not only going from point A to B. The journey from their terminal until your resort is a beautiful adventure itself.
Ready to take off
Your flight will start with your pilot and co-pilot waiting for you in front of the seaplane. You might notice that they’re not wearing your usual pilot’s uniform. What you will see are a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. Honestly, this is our kind of uniform. Points to the TMA team.
Now, let’s get to the BEST part – the flight. If you’ve never flown in a seaplane before (like us. This was our first time), you will be surprised at how smooth the flight is—a combination of experienced pilots and a great runaway – the Maldivian ocean.
After the safety briefing, it is time to take off. WOW!! What a view! This is one of the highlights of our trip. The opportunity to see this beautiful place from above is unreal. From take-off to landing, taking your eyes off the windows with such a gorgeous landscape below you is hard.
The breathtaking views only make you wish your flight was a little longer. With flights from 20 minutes to 60 minutes (depending on your destination), the rule is to sit back and enjoy the ride.
It took us 25 minutes to get to our destination, and the flight was a bucket-list item. Check!
