A Paradise called Seychelles – Travel Guide to Seychelles
Travel Guide to Seychelles – famous for its deep blue waters, white sandy beaches, giant tortoises, and the most fantastic rock formations someone could ever imagine, is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, and it is part of Africa.
Among these 115 islands, the most visited are Mahé – home of the capital – Praslin and La Digue.
We visited Seychelles in April 2021 and fell in love with this paradise on Earth. Now, we want to help you start planning your next trip to Seychelles. Shall we?
Travel Guide to Seychelles – Basic info
Capital: Victoria
Currency: Seychellois rupee – although Euros are well accepted everywhere in the country.
Best time to visit: between April and May, or October and November, as these are the calmer periods between the two trade winds which hit the island each year.
Language: Seychellois Creole, English, and French.
Safety: Most areas in Seychelles are pretty safe. However, crime does exist, and it is generally non-violent. Most crimes are cars broken into and tourists robbed while walking at night. We didn’t see or have any problems safety-wise.
What’s the weather like in Seychelles?
The climate in Seychelles is tropical and hot all year round. Don’t be sad if you arrive there and it’s raining. The weather changes quickly! I can’t say how many times we woke up, it was raining, and a few minutes later, the sun shone brightly through the island.
Keep in mind that from November to March, there is a rainy and muggy season due to the northwest monsoon, while from June to September, when the southeast trade winds prevail, there is a dry and slightly more relaxed season.
What to pack to visit Seychelles?
The short answer is relaxed, casual clothing. The temperature doesn’t drop too much at night, so basically, you should bring:
• Day wear: beach wear, shorts, and t-shirts. Evening wear: smart casual
Don’t forget your sun hat, sunglasses, sandals, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes.
Do I need a VISA to enter Seychelles?
Seychelles is a visa-free country. Anyone is welcome to visit it for tourism purposes without a visa, but you must have a return ticket and a hotel confirmation. They will ask for that at immigration upon arrival.
What do I need to enter Seychelles during COVID time?
- All visitors must present a negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours before departure, and must stay in approved accommodation.
- An application for entry form should also be completed and returned to the Public Health Authority before travel.
- Visitors who have been in Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Pakistan, or South Africa within 14 days before travel will not be permitted to enter Seychelles. This info will be revised later.
How long should I stay in Seychelles?
If you want to visit 2-3 islands, we recommend staying a week.
Best way to get around the islands
In Seychelles, they drive on the left side of the road, so if you’re not used to driving like that, we wouldn’t recommend renting a car, which was our case.
Also, there’s no Uber, so the best way to get around is by taxi.
How to go from one island to the others?
From Mahé to Praslin, you can either go by plane or ferry. The name of the ferry is Cat Cocos.
To go from Praslin to La Digue, you can only go by ferry, and the name is Cat Rose. It only takes 15 minutes.
