Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives

Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives was the second resort of 5 we visited on our nostalgic first trip to the Maldives.

Cinnamon Dhonveli is aka Surfer’s Paradise, and it’s a 4-star resort located only 13km from Malé, Maldives’ capital.

The resort offers speedboat transportation to and from the airport, which takes around 25 minutes.

It’s the perfect location for so many events such as family holidays or romantic honeymoons – let’s get to know a little bit more about this gorgeous and fabulous place.

Our room: overwater bungalow

Overwater Villa

We stayed in one of their exclusive overwater suites and highly recommended doing so. The room is large, and there’s a beautiful private deck where you can watch the sunrise. There’s also an exclusive restaurant for those in this type of bungalow.

One of the highlights of this overwater bungalow is that you have a fantastic ocean view from every single room of the villa, which means you can watch that turquoise ocean from the living room, bedroom, and even bathroom! Making a bubble bath is one of the perfect ways to relax after a day of snorkeling, diving, and enjoying the beach. We also love being able to access the water directly from our bungalow.

Another thing that we were so stoked about was the glass floor in our living room.

How amazing is this? We could stay there for hours, watching fish, turtles, stingrays, and sharks pass by.

If you are not a massive fan of overwater bungalows at Cinnamon Dhonveli, you can also find some other types of accommodations, such as the Beach Villas. They are like a home at the beach, just a few steps away from the ocean. Perfect for families! Especially if they have a toddler and are afraid that overwater villas are suitable over the sea.

The Resort

Cinnamon Dhonveli has everything you can need to have the perfect vacation. From beautiful places to chill and enjoy the view to all the activities you can imagine, such as jet skis and kayaks.

One of the favorite things about this resort is the famous area for surfers called Pasta Point. Surfers from all over the world love to come to this resort to enjoy this specific area.

If you want to have some fun or if you’re feeling feel sporty, at Cinnamon Dhonveli, you can find a gym, foosball, tennis, badminton, beach volleyball, and much more.

Not in the mood to exercise? No worries, they have a beautiful Spa that offers excellent deals for you to relax.

If you feel like having some drinks, the resort has bars at the pool and beach.

Activities

Turtle Snorkeling & Sand Bank

During our whole stay in the Maldives, we decided to try different types of experiences. At Dhonveli, we chose to go turtle snorkeling.

We can say that we fell more in love with turtles than ever!! The whole experience was terrific. We got a speedboat and went to where the turtles usually are. We got snorkels and fins with us and spent around 30 minutes snorkeling with them. They are adorable, and it was such an incredible experience that we recommend everyone to do it!

As we finished snorkeling with them, the boat drivers took us to a sand bank. It was a beautiful place with only a sand “strip,” and you could stay there and chill.

They packed snacks and beverages for us. It was just us in the middle of nowhere, and we were the only ones there. It’s like a dream!

Signature Dinner

Another unique experience at Cinnamon Dhonveli was their most romantic signature dinner at the beach. The food was unbelievably good, and the mood was just perfect. The setup was beautiful, with a romantic tent at the beach, some lights, and a beautiful table ready for us. We arrived just in time for sunset. As the food and drinks started to come, it was just the two of us and the stars. That was the perfect way to say ‘see you soon to this paradise.

We couldn’t think of a better way to end our last night here.

Meal plans – All Inclusive deal

If you want to be “worry-free, ” we suggest going on All Inclusive.

We got this type of board which means food and drinks (including alcohol) are included, and you don’t have to worry about anything. Nothing better than enjoying some drinks inside their infinity pool.

The restaurants are buffet-style with a great variety of food. As we mentioned, there’s an upscale bar and restaurant for those staying at their overwater villas.

At the buffets, you will find everything you need, including a great selection of local food, pasta, salads, and much more, a kids food area, and a desserts area. Three restaurants are onsite, featuring beachfront dining, international cuisine, and garden views.
