Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge : Summer Marketing Trip 2020
A weekend at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge – Jasper is a world-famous vacation destination in the Canadian Rockies with endless incredible lakes, mountain views, unique waterfalls, and wildlife. But trust me when I say your trip to Jasper won’t be complete without a stay at the Fairmont Jasper Lodge.
A weekend at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Fairmont JPL is a 700-acre, year-round luxury mountain resort with 442 superbly-appointed guest rooms and luxurious Signature Cabins offering the perfect romantic getaway or family vacation destination in Alberta’s Jasper National Park.
But it’s not just the accommodation that makes Fairmont JPL a destination of its own. Fred and I had the perfect weekend there – everything you can expect on an ideal getaway you will undoubtedly find in this post. Let’s dig into it.
Getting there
We drove from Banff to Jasper through the Icefields Parkway, considered one of the most scenic roads in the world. Parkway is a 232 km stretch of double-lane highway winding along the Continental Divide through soaring rocky mountain peaks, ice fields, and vast sweeping valleys. Every corner on the Icefields Parkway reveals one more of nature’s splendor.
As soon as we got to the main road that would lead us to our weekend at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, we were welcomed by several excellent Elk just beside the road. There were so many of them walking and eating along the route. It was a special moment for us, and we felt that this amazing trip was just starting.
Fairmont JPL
Arriving at Fairmont Jasper Lodge – is another experience itself. The property is enormous (700 acres), really well maintained, and to say it’s gorgeous would be an understatement. We got our room keys and walked towards what would be our home for the next two days. Little did we know the wonderful surprise we were about to encounter our weekend at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
The Hotel Room
This is the part most of us are more excited about, am I right? And, of course, the Fairmont would never disappoint us. We got this magic cabin room by the lake with a private outdoor balcony area with the most fantastic view ever of Beauvert lake (Click here to check availability). How were we supposed to leave this place one day?
Surprises and more surprises
The surprises didn’t end up there. We got a Welcome Cheese and Charcuterie board with some local beers, which we enjoyed immediately because – why not? Especially with such a fantastic view!!
After settling down, we went for a walk around the property, which allowed us to understand why the Fairmont JPL is so famous truly. When you stay at Fairmont, it’s not like you are at a ‘regular’ luxury hotel. It’s the whole experience that makes this hotel so unique. Jasper is a magnificent place to visit, and once inside the hotel, you don’t feel the need to leave it as it truly has everything you need inside there.
Why? Check it out.
So much to do/see
You can find terrific restaurants inside the hotel, a bar, Spa, a beautiful pool, an art gallery, fashion stores, a mini-supermarket, wild animals walking through the property, a golf course, bikes, and horse riding stables.
That is not enough?
What about their turquoise lake with canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, and boats? And much more! All set within beautiful, natural grounds with truly Canadian architecture – it’s 100% Canadian luxury.
As I said, the Fairmont JPL experience will make you a massive fan of the chain ( in case you are not one already).
Paddling away
As you guys know, Fred and I love paddle boarding. We couldn’t miss the chance to paddle in the beautiful turquoise lake right outside our cabin. The water was incredible – it was so clear and blue that we couldn’t believe we were there. It was one of those moments that you feel blessed to be alive!
The day passes by
We could stay there the whole day paddling and wouldn’t get tired of it. After a few hours inside the water, it was time to go back, shower, and get ready for the next day.
DAY 2
After a fantastic night, we woke up super early to get some shots at Pyramid Lake, just about 20 minutes from the hotel. When we got there, the weather wasn’t looking great, and it started to rain. But guess what? That rain formed the cutest little rainbow!! So the scenario was magical with this lovely wooden bridge and the rainbow at the end. We were happy and wet. haha
Work and leisure
We took a few shots at the lake, and it was time to get back to the hotel and enjoy the surroundings a little more!
We decided to get a canoe and explore Beauvert lake. The color of the water was INSANE! Crystal clear and turquoise, I was speechless. We paddled for about 45 minutes exploring the whole area by the hotel until we were hungry.
For lunch today, we decided on something we LOVE. Can you guess what it is?
It’s Picnic Time!!
It was the perfect setup!! We had this fantastic lake view, a vast grass area to sit on, and this ideal picnic basket full of goodies with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. Awesome, I know!!!
Picnic
We got to enjoy our picnic at this peaceful place with the sun shining above us and with a significant temperature – the beginning of August is the best temperature for the outdoors in the Rockies. (Click here to check the picnic basket info).
The picnic was great, and we were full! We went for a walk and took some pictures inside the property. You have so many places to relax and enjoy the view. It’s hard to choose just one spot.
After a while, we decided to get back to our cabin room and take a 30 min nap to prepare for the night.
Dinner at Orso Trattoria
Once again, without leaving the hotel, it was time for dinner at Orso Trattoria, where you will find the authentic taste of Italy.
I’ll tell you below our dinner choices; however, their three-course menu changes daily but don’t worry! I’m pretty sure they will never disappoint you.
Also, I think it’s worth mentioning that kids five and under eat for free! Kids 12 and under have a specialized menu to choose from, or they can enjoy items from the regular menu at 50% off.
A special encounter
After dinner, when we were walking back to our cabin, Fred thought he’d seen a few Elk just across the lake near the golf course. He wasn’t too sure about it, but we decided to quickly grab our paddle board and check if he was right or had too much wine for dinner. Little did I know, we were just about to have one of the most magical moments in our lives!!
There weren’t a few but actually about 20 Elk waking around the property!! We stopped paddling within a safe distance from them to contemplate nature at its finest! Amazing pinkish sunset to our right and those amazing animals to our left. It was a moment never to forget.
Day 3
Sadly, it was time to say goodbye to this fantastic place. I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but this would be our last trip in Canada as Fred and I were just about to move out to Portugal a week later. So this little trip meant so, SO much to us!!
Time to go
We woke up and got ready to leave, but not before we first tried Orso Trattoria’s brunch! Who loves brunch as I do??
Every week the restaurant creates a new tapas-inspired tasting menu, and what I love the most about tapas-style menus is that you can try different selections instead of ordering just one big meal. Plus, you can enjoy all of this with a delicious Mimosa! YAY! (Find below our Brunch choices).
After brunch
It was time to hit the road and go home. We wouldn’t be the same after this lovely trip. On our way home, we made plans to come back soon. Maybe for Christmas next time with the whole family.
I hope you all enjoyed following us on this fantastic experience. Let me know if you have any questions about Jasper or the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
Xx,
Luana.
