JW Marriott Maldives

JW Marriott Maldives is a resort & Spa in the Maldives and one of the most luxurious and unique resorts we’ve ever been to.

So in this post, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the resort, including accommodation types and meal plans. In addition, we’ll also share all the information you need for your next vacation at JW Marriott Maldives.

Accommodations

The accommodations at JW Marriott were of the things that impressed us the most at the resort.

The villas are amazing! Their design follows a Dhoni shape, a local type of Maldivian boat. Also, compared to other Maldives Villas, they look like mansions instead of just bungalows.

You can find a total of 60 luxurious Beach and Overwater Pool Villas at the resort. All of them include a private infinity pool.

Overwater Villas

We stayed at their Duplex Overwater Pool Villa. This is the ideal option for smaller families and couples looking to celebrate a special occasion.

In other words, you get to enjoy the overwater bungalows that include a private pool and a terrace within a few steps from the lagoon. In addition, a second floor with a bathroom and lounge area with fantastic views of the Indian Ocean and its infinite shades of blue.

Beah Villas

Beach villas are another great option, especially for families with small kids.

They have direct access to the beach and are incredibly private, with lots of greens. The design is very similar to the Overwater Pool Vilas, and they also have the option of beach villas with two bedrooms.

Nice to mention that if you are a massive fan of swimming and snorkeling, we recommend that you book a sunset beach villa opposing a sunrise beach villa. That’s because the beach in front of the sunrise beach villa is a little rocky and the hardest to swim.

Dinning at JW Marriot Maldives

Dining at JW Marriott Maldives won’t disappoint you. They have Japanese, Italian, global cuisine, treetop dining, and buffet breakfasts.

One thing that we love about the resort is that you have the three meal options to choose from Half Board system, Full Board, and All Inclusive

We always recommend going for All Inclusive or Full board. The Maldives can be very expensive, and you don’t want to find yourself calculating how much you’re spending each day you go for a meal or drink when you are in paradise.

Delight your palate and enjoy yourself

At JW Marriott Maldives, you will start your day with a vast breakfast at their restaurant called Aailaa. It’s buffet style with a great variety.

You can order your favorite pizza at their Italian restaurant – Fiamma – for a relaxing lunch by the pool. Or maybe spice up your day with authentic Thai cuisine at Kaashi’s unique treetop location.

Besides all the fantastic restaurants, you must try their signature cocktails at Wabi Sabi for pre-dinner drinks or catch the sunset at the Horizon, which offers the best seat in the house.

For dinner, you can choose two excellent options:

  1. a Japanese night at Hashi, where you can have a Teppanyaki experience.
  2. Or, you can also have the finest prime meats and crustaceans at their signature restaurant Shio.

Dinner experience on the beach – The Malafaaiy Dinner

In addition to a fantastic night, we had a traditional Maldivian dinner deeply rooted in their history. The fisherman’s wives would cook and pack dishes in a conventional large wood round box for their husbands to take to the boat. In Dhivehi (Maldivian language), Malaffaaiy means feast.

We ate, and we danced while live music was playing on site. In addition, we had an incredible dinner with the staff rolling the drums on an authentically Maldivian night. It was definitely an experience we’ll never forget!

Wine Cellar

The Wine Room at JW Marriott has 1620 bottles and 320 labels from across the globe. Guests can book private wine dinners and wine tasting sessions guided by a wine Sommelier.

How to choose the best meal plan for you?

Most importantly, we always suggest going on the All Inclusive system. Trust us. Even though you might think it’s unnecessary, it is so worth it, and you can relax and enjoy yourself without worrying about it.

Activities:

Dive along with sea turtles and majestic manta rays swimming by. Relax at their incredible Spa, for instance, or go to the infinity pool for swimming. They also provide free use of snorkeling equipment, kayak, and paddle board.

Besides the private pool at your villa, the resort offers two other infinity pools: one that’s family friendly and is located near the Italian restaurant Fiamma. And the other is located near the treetop Thai restaurant Kaashi, an adults-only pool for 18+ guests.

Spa at JW

One of our fav things to do while traveling is getting massages. It’s not only to relax but also to get the many benefits that are scientific proof that a message has, such as:

  1. Reducing stress
  2. Reducing pain and muscle soreness, and tension
  3. Improving circulation, energy, and alertness
  4. Lowering heart rate and blood pressure
  5. Improving immune function

We had the fantastic opportunity to get a couple of massages at the Deluxe Treatment Suite. It surpassed all our expectations. We highly recommend getting the suite for honeymooners or couples celebrating something special. It’s the biggest suite at the Spa with so many features that you can literally stay there for the whole day enjoying and relaxing.

Little Griffins Kids

It’s important to mention that JW Marriott has one of the largest kids’ clubs in the Maldives.

In particular, you will be jealous of their kid’s club if you have kids.

The little ones have the incredible ‘Little Griffins Kids’ Club. It’s the most beautiful and complete kids club we’ve seen. They get spoiled over there, and at the same time, you get it too.

The kids club is extensive, with three rooms open until 21:30, which is very convenient for guests.

Gym

Going to the gym daily is something we don’t skip while traveling.

As we are always on the road with so much delicious food around us, we cannot afford to skip exercising. So we appreciate it when the resort has an excellent gym, and JW Marriott was no different.

We would also recommend sunrise yoga and meditation at the Pavillon. We have tried yoga sessions in the past, but this was by far the most incredible.

The gym is equipped with some aerobic machines and others for weight lifting. They even have punching bags and offer boxing gloves as well.

The gym’s view is incredible, with many glass windows to the endless blue. Important to mention that the gym is open 24/7.

How to get there?

JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa is located on the stunning island of Vagaru in the Shaviyani Atoll. So it can be reached via a 55-minute scenic seaplane flight from Malé – Velana International airport.

Your dream vacation will start as soon as you step out of the terminal at the airport, where a resort representative will meet and greet you. They will then help you with your luggage and check in for your next flight to the resort.

Once you get to the paradise island at JW Marriott, fantastic thing, you will be welcomed with lots of fanfare: drums, claps. Trust us when we say it will be a once in a lifetime experience to be welcomed like this.

JW Marriott Maldives

Our final thoughts.

To sum up, JW Marriott Maldives is undoubtedly one of the best resorts we’ve ever stayed in.

One of the things that makes this place so special and one of a kind is definitely the staff. They all go above and beyond to make your vacation the best one possible. They were absolutely incredible to us! We don’t have words to say how much they cared for us and how we felt at home.
