Are you traveling to Budapest? Pay attention to this list of the 5 Must Try Food In Budapest!

One of the things we like the most when traveling is to experience local food. As we have no restrictions or allergies, we usually look out for must-try food and go for it.

Budapest was no different. We tried the most we could in the five days we were there, and our recommendations are as follows:

5 Must Try Food In Budapest

1- Goulash

One of the most famous dishes in Hungarian cuisine. It mixes into soup and stew with beef, carrot, potato, spices, and regular paprika. This dish can be served in a traditional bowl or a bread bowl. It’s an easy-to-find word and common at Christmas markets.

2- Chicken Paprikash

One of the most popular dishes in Budapest is roasted chicken cooked with onion, paprika, and other spices, coated in a sour cream sauce and served with nokedli.

3- Nokedli

These are egg noodle dumplings commonly served as part of Chicken Paprikash, but you can also order them on their own.

4- Langós

It’s a typical street food made of deep-fried flatbread. The traditional one is topped with sour cream and cheese, but nowadays, you can find many other toppings options.

5- Kürtöskalács Chimney cake

If you have a sweet tooth as we do, this is something you CAN’T miss trying. This is probably the most famous pastry in Hungary and also considered the oldest. It consists of a tube-shaped pie that looks like bread but is hollow inside. They are often filled with ice cream, whipped cream (or even Nutella). A must-try.

Hungarians have a great food tradition, so there are still many dishes worth trying. However, we found these five ones to be the ones you cannot miss.
