Our Gear

One of the questions we get the most on our IG is ‘What is our content creator equipment list’?

Today we’re going to share a list of ALL the equipment we have and how we use each one. From drones to professional cameras and cellphones, we’ll cover it all.

Are you ready? So let’s get this started.

Equipment list

1- Cellphone

The iPhone 13 PRO MAX.

We are starting with the basic but essential part of our equipment list. A month ago, we decided to upgrade and get a new cellphone: the iPhone 13 PRO MAX. We don’t remember the last time we were excited about a new iPhone, and here’s why.

We’ve been creating videos and reels with our iPhone for more than a year. So the quality of the iPhone is something significant to us. That being said, the quality of the new iPhone is impressive! We can see a big difference from our previous ones made with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The primary camera has a new sensor, the largest ever put into an iPhone. The ultra-wide has a new auto-focus sensor and lens that improves light gathering. The new feature called Cinematic is another excellent addition to this iPhone.

1.1- iPhone Camera Lens Protector

Fred doesn’t use an iPhone case on his phone, so he can always have the gimbal clip attached to his phone. So to try to protect our iPhone camera from damage, we got a camera lens protector on amazon.

So far, the lens protector has been working great. We’ve heard about problems when using the protector and the camera flashlight for pictures at night. We don’t take many pictures at night, but we have tested it a few times and had no problems with it.

We’ll keep testing and updating this post if anything changes. The protector has been helping us to keep our camera lens free from scratches.

UPDATE: We are not currently using the camera lens protector. We did have some problems with it. The sun would reflect on the lens, and we could often see a green dot on our videos.

2- Gimbal

Now you know what iPhone we use to create our content. So it’s time we mention another essential piece of equipment it will help you improve your videos—the DJI OM 4.

For 99.9% of our videos, we use our DJI stabilizer. The new iPhone has an excellent stabilization system. Yet we can still feel and see a vast difference when we use the gimbal versus when we don’t.

“DJI OM 4 is a foldable stabilizer designed to complement your smartphone, allowing you to start recording right away immediately. Magnetic, ultra-compact, and bursting with easy-to-use features, OM 4 is the ultimate solution for sharing your world.”

3- Tripod

This is probably the essential item on our Content Creator Equipment List, and we’ll tell you why.

As a couple and our photographers, this is the only way we can manage to get shots from both of us together during our adventures around the world. Quite often, we find ourselves in remote places, and even if we wanted to ask someone to take a picture, that wouldn’t be possible.

People are constantly asking us how we take our pictures, and there’s no mystery behind just a tripod.

Our tripod is The Manfrotto BeFree Advanced.

What we love the most about this tripod is how much ‘lighter’ it is compared to others in the market. This is a crucial deal breaker.

We are constantly carrying our equipment with us wherever we go. If you add the camera plus lenses plus drone, it’s a lot of weight to carry around the whole day. That’s why we searched for an excellent light tripod that could still hold our camera safely. We genuinely recommend The Manfrotto BeFree Advanced.

4- Drone

As former helicopter pilots, we love flying the drone and creating content with it.

Before proceeding to our drone suggestions, we feel it’s our responsibility to mention how vital safety is in this matter. A drone can put a helicopter down, for example. So please ensure you know and follow all the requirements and regulations to fly a drone. Different countries require different things. In Seychelles, for instance, you need a specific permit issued by the government to pass. So make sure you research and know the requirements of the country you plan to fly to.

That being said, let’s jump into one more item of our content creator equipment list – Drone suggestions.

What we recommend:

  • If you are thinking of getting a drone for fun, we suggest the DJI Mavic Mini. It’s small, light, and perfect for traveling drone drones. It still has good quality.
  • If you’re focusing on quality and stabilization, we suggest the DJI Mavic PRO. It’s a fantastic drone and great for creating Youtube and Promo videos. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t work well for us as it’s a bit too big and heavy for our work style.
  • So you are like us, that care a lot about the quality and are constantly traveling, your best option is the DJI Mavic Air 2. This is what we have, and we love it. DJI has just released the new version of this drone which is the DJI MAVIC AIR 2S

The DJI Mavic Air 2 is light and compact and has incredible stability. It provides excellent quality videos and pictures. You can check some of our videos on our YOUTUBE channel and photographs on our INSTAGRAM account.

5- Camera

Our Content Creator Equipment List list wouldn’t be complete without our camera set.

Our camera is probably the most valuable tool of our work. We create many videos with our iPhone and love making them. But it is with our camera that we eternalize the beautiful moments. You can check some of these moments here.

We use a Sony A7III Alpha Full-Frame Mirrorless, and we love it. All images are sharp and of fantastic quality. The price is fair for such a tremendous excellent camera. It’s worth the investment.

6- Lenses

We work using two lenses.

Sony FE 16-35mm 2.8 GM – It’s a wide-angle zoom lens perfect for landscape, architecture, or if you are too close to an object and need a wider angle. This is one of the favorite bloggers’ lenses due to its sharpness and versatility.

Sony FE 24-70mm 2.8 GM – This is our go-to lens and our favorite. There’s a conflict between the 16-35mm and the 24-70mm to say which is the best. In our opinion, both are amazing, so we decided to get them. We use 24-70mm in most of our shots because of the style of our photos.
